Walk on the Water

Music is a constant inspiration in my life
a way to worship, to calm down, to reflect,
to change & grow.

This song is what I listened to this morning as
I got ready to start my day.
A beautiful reminder, a great encouragement...
that if I just step out in faith, He'll be there to guide me.

I love these words...
"You know you were made for more, so don't be afraid to move."

When I searched for a video of this song,
I came across this one and enjoyed
that more was shared than just the song itself.

Her 'life verse' was something I needed to hear as well.
It's perfect for where I'm at right now.

Bye Bye Boppy.

We have gone three days {&nights}
without a boppy.
Kenzie calls her pacifier, a boppy.
I have not a clue in the world as to where she got it.
But that's what stuck.

I think I'm more sad about this than Kenzie is.
She asks about Boppy when she's getting sleepy,
But doesn't fuss at all, when we tell her it's all gone.

It really is all gone.
We lost our last one.
Thank Goodness.
cause
I think we were more dependent on it than she was.

I know it's a wonderful thing,
I know parents have battles
with their kids about this stuff.
... But, it does make me sad...
just another way she's growing up
WAY to FAST.

Just the three of us.

Mom, Sister and I traveled
to Austin and San Marcos
this weekend to do some shopping.

It was pretty crowded due to SXSW
but we had a good time. Some of
the shopping was a let down.
Regardless, we found a few things,
and we ate some good food along the way.

It was a nice getaway.
Something we've never done, just the three of us.

Like Olive Garden brings mints, Home Slice brings smarties.
Mom and sis had already grabbed theirs
before I had a chance to snap a picture.

Our hotel was outside of Austin, and this was the view
as we drove there.  Some rooms in our hotel had this view, sadly
we only had a sliver of the view from our room.

Next day at the outlet mall in San Marcos.

Liz spotted, what we've always called 'Kissing Flowers'

Johnny Rockets. The waiters bring bowls for your ketchup
and they make these smiley faces for you. Too cute.

We had Hey cupcakes before, when we traveled with David for work.
So we took Mom to the one we had been too on Congress.
Then spotted this one near our hotel the next day,
and grabbed cupcakes for Dad, Hubby, and Kenzie.

Dinner at Flores.

Scrabble after dinner.

We headed back home the next day
in the freezing cold and rain.
Glad we went at just the right time to
enjoy the lovely spring like weather.

I am rich.

I have been praying for a very long time
about how to use the skills I have been given.
How to use my shop, and my love of creating
for something bigger than myself.

There are hurting people, all over the globe...
and I have been called to help.
Somewhere. Somehow. Just give.

I searched, I read, and searched and read.
And felt moved to first help our local
Ronald Mcdonald house.
They are really doing a great thing there.
Giving families a comfortable and welcoming
place to stay during their children's treatments
at local dallas hospitals.
What a burden they are removing from these families,
in what is undoubtedly a difficult time.

I just didn't really know how to get started.
Or whether I should use my current shop,
or start a separate one.
And how was this even going to be possible.
I am just one person. And my readership is small.
And my shop is small....

Then at the church we visited, yesterday.
We heard a sermon that hit hard.

It was about how we're rich.
We don't often see ourselves that way,
but we are some of the richest people in the world.
we are rich, in time and money.
We've been called to give of this time and money.
To give back, because as a believer I know,
that none of it was mine to begin with.

God has given us a margin.
More than we need.
Not for my sake, but for the sake of others.

" Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous givers, sharing with others."
1 Timothy 6:18 (New English Translation)

I realized, what am I waiting for?
God didn't ask for me to be anything special,
he simply asked me to give.
And though, I feel small, and definitely helpless...
He is mighty.
And so,
I am filling my shop with fresh new designs.

And there are quite a few items on sale....
50% of the proceeds are going to the Ronald Mcdonald House.
My heart's desire is to buy as many things as possible off of their 'Wish List'.

Birthdays all around Pt.1

Sisterhood dinner/ Jen's Birthday celebration.

Ro cooked for us.
We had cupcakes.
Presents were opened,
and much chatting occurred.
I love our gatherings.

Flowers from the rest of the sisterhood to Jen.
I heart central market flowers.

Our fabulous host, Ro.

Birthday girl, Jen.

I didn't get my colors very even,
Cupcake idea from Megan
I suggest foil wrappers, for an element of surprise
The white paper, showed the cupcakes weren't your
'everyday' cupcakes. sad.

Jess & Shells.

Jess, Me and Baby Carson.
My bestie since 4th grade is having her first baby this May!

My girly girl.

Everyone joked when I found out
about having a girl,
that she'd hate the color pink,
and probably end up being a tom boy type.

Which I'd be just fine with.
But God gave me a little girl
who definitely doesn't mind the dirt or water splashed in her face,
but still is a very girly little girl.

Right now she enjoys
doing what mama is doing.

When i wear a necklace,
she wants to wear one too.
She wants to help carry my purse,
or bags when we grab groceries
or go shopping.
She LOVES shoes.
And recently when I do my makeup
She wants to be involved as well.

Spoke too soon.

We're now both sick.
Kenzie went all of yesterday
without throwing up...
but wouldn't eat much.
Understandable, I'm always afraid
to eat after being sick like that.

And this morning,
I woke up the same way Kenzie did
the other morning... throwing up.
Yuck.
As I type I'm trying to keep it together.
I thought blogging and checking up on everyone
might take my mind off of it.

I went up and got Kenzie,
thinking today was going to be bad
with a child who should be completely back to herself
and me feeling awful.
I made her some milk and cereal.
And minutes later she threw it all up.

Not something you want to clean up
when your feeling sick yourself.
yuck.

I know it's trivial, and it's just vomit.
And people are way worse off, but if you would...
Pray for us to get better.
And even more, pray for Hubby, that
he'll manage not to pick up whatever we've got.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Hope I don't gross you out.

Yesterday was NOT fun.
Kenzie woke up vomiting.
And continued to do so
about every 30-60 minutes.
until roughly 8pm last night.

I hate seeing her suffer.
Luckily, even though my usual reaction
to the smell of vomit is to gag
and feel like I may do so myself,
when it's my kid, I didn't smell a thing.

Kenzie's a little crazy
when she throws up.
She flails.
She throws anything in her reach.
She grabs at you.
And even at herself.

Trying to get her to throw up
in one of our big bowls
was almost completely out of the question.
So puke was pretty much all over everything.
Me, her, pillows, blankets, burpies,
the couch, the floor...everything.

I tried to keep a towel down over the couch.
Did roughly 5 loads of laundry.
And several jammie changes.
Had a bubble bath.
Napped on the couch.
Tried apple juice and crackers.

Eventually, Daddy left work
and brought home some
pedialyte and bananas
which she eventually kept down
and whatever bug she had, passed.

Thank Goodness!
Let's hope these little stomach bugs
are few and far between in our household.

She's back to her old self again today.

Spring like Weather.

It's been absolutely beautiful here
for the last couple of days.

So before heading to lunch
for my dad's birthday,
Kenzie and I went out
to enjoy it a little.

(please excuse the random cooler in my yard)
