Amy Butler's New Line

I just pre-ordered some fabric from
Amy Butler's new line for Fall,

It's beautiful. And I've been drooling over it for days.
Can't wait to have some of it in my hands.

And I'm doing a 'Volunteer' Shift at
the Urban Baazar next weekend
I don't think it can be called volunteering
if you get paid in class credits.

The Make Studio here in Dallas puts on the bazaar.
And the class credits can be used towards a class they offer,
such as sewing, screen printing, or the one I'm most interested in at the moment
Building and covering your own ottoman!
Can't wait to take the class and use my new Amy Butler Fabric on it!!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Megan!
You are an amazing woman
with such a beautiful heart!
I hope you have the perfect day!

"Boob!"
HA.

Hunger Challenge. Day 3-4

I was terrible about doing my final Hunger Challenge Posts.
The last two days we did the challenge.  Kenzie and I had
chicken, cheese, and tortillas.  For lunch and dinner we'd have different sides.
Such as nachos or grapes.

It's 5.33 for a package of the chicken I buy.
And there are enough left overs for several meals.
You could use it on a salad, make wraps, etc.

So over two days
Eating grapes and nachos to accompany our lunches and dinners
Chicken: 5.33
Tortillas: 1.58
Cheese: 1.78
Bag of Chips 1.50
2 Handfulls of grapes 1.00
$11.19 Total
for two lunches and two dinners
Drinks & Breakfast aren't added in here.
But were well within our $16 dollars
for two days for two people.

A thought that came into my mind at the end of the week
was the inability to have people over for dinner.
Unless you asked each person to bring a portion of the meal.

She's Engaged!

My sister got engaged this weekend.
Family and a few close friends were
invited to meet the newly engaged
couple for dinner after the proposal.

I baked a cake:
(The chocolate ring box is from when David proposed to me,
I thought it added an extra special touch)

Kenzie said Cheese:

My sister was surprised...
she thought it was just the two of them.

Bestie flew in from Cali

Beautiful Bling

Newly Engaged

Good practice

And of course.
A classic.
Changing their facebook status.

Her now Fiance, Michael, took her to an art museum and to
the botanical gardens
Had a beautiful table set up in a private area
Gave her a bible with her to be new name on it
and asked her to marry him.
As you see, she did say yes.

I said I wouldn't cry when they arrived.
But I did.
Who was I kidding?
It's my little sister
she's getting married! wow
I'm so happy for her, happy that she's happy
Happy that she found that one person she's meant to spend her life with.
I have no doubt he'll be an amazing husband.
(And I've seen from how he is with Kenzie, that he'll be an impeccable father one day)

Congratulations to you both!

Homecoming Mum & Garter

My sister-in-law Caitie
asked me to make her
garter for her date again this year.
And I got the pleasure of doing her mum as well!
Hooray! I love making these :)

If you aren't from Texas,
at homecoming the girls and guys
wear these elaborate fake mums
adorned with tons of ribbons and trinkets.
It's GREAT fun.

The Garter:

I didn't have a chance to grab a shot of the
whole mum, but here's the top part.
Her school is the mustangs,
so that's the reason for the horse
I attached a sparkly hat
and then added a tiara... and of course
it's holding a sparkly football.

Beautiful.

This one was taken with my phone,
I just had to pull over yesterday and snap a picture
when I saw the sky like this.

A full rainbow, though you can barely see the arc in this picture.
It was so amazing, I've never seen a rainbow like this one.

I can't help but think of God
and the beauty he created
when I look at skies as beautiful as this.

Hunger Challenge

Like many people I've started a budget.
We changed how often we grab fast food or eat out.
Set a budget at the grocery store,
and started feeling pretty good about it.

Then I read about the hunger challenge.
More than 35 million people
in our country are on food stamps
- up 3 million just since January.

WOW.

My budget of $100 dollars a week for groceries
all of a sudden looked like a bit of a luxury.
Especially since we can stretch that a bit if needed (or wanted).

People on food stamps get just
4 dollars a day per person
for now.
It has been just 3 dollars a day.

I started the challenge today.
(McKenzie included)

I use the price of the item
and divide by ounces
total the amount of ounces used
to come up with my price for each item eaten.

Breakfast:
Bowl of Cheerios no milk (2)
glass of water
cup of milk w/carnation instant breakfast
Total: $ 0.94

Lunch:
Hotdog no bun (2)
Nachos (10 chips and cheese)
glass of water
cup of water & juice mixed
Total: $0.89

Dinner:
Toddler lunchable
Lunchable
Cup of Milk w/carnation
Glass of Pepsi (I got a liter of pepsi for 89 cents today!)
Total: $2.88

Day Grand Total: $4.71

Tomorrow I'll try to grab pictures when I make us a meal.
Today was a little crazy since getting back from Kansas.

A special weekend in Kansas.

I met Julie and Heather at the Dallas airport
for the first time on Friday and we flew
to Kansas and met this amazing blogger friend.

We made the trip in order to
as this was the weekend for
Cora's Playground Dedication.

We may have all been a little crazy
but I think it was such a special weekend
that I feel so blessed to have been a part of.
Couldn't imagine now, having done it any other way.
My heart is so full. My life forever changed....

I have more to share, but I'm super tired
probably should have already gone to bed....

Our weekend 'getaway'.

Kenzie and I traveled with David
on his business trip
to Oklahoma this weekend.
We extended it and stayed till Sunday
to visit some of his family.

It rained pretty much the entire time...
but we had a great time!
And as usual I have tons of pictures.
I'll share just 3 for now.
More later.

Reading during the drive up,
and upside down is the best.

checking out her reflection in the kitchen
of our hotel room for our night in Broken Arrow, OK.

Picnic at the park.

Dinner & Playground Fun

Yes we ate Chic-Fil-A for our picnic.
We're bad... We've been trying desperately hard
not to eat out or grab fast food. It saves so much money.
It was just easiest for us at the time. Not a good excuse, I know.
